Terrible Bon Bon Jokes

So yesterday I had my first Christmas Party for the Festive Season, and of course there were Bon Bon's with party hats and terrible jokes! I just thought I would post a few of the cringe worthy jokes. Have a great week!

  • What animals need oiling? Mice, because they squeak
  • How does Jack Frost get to work? By icicles
  • What do you get if you cross a fish and two elephants? Swimming Trunks
  • Whats furry and minty? A polo Bear
  • What does an angry Kangaroo do? Get hopping mad
  • Why did the golfer wear two pairs of trousers? In case he got a hole in one
  • What do you call a man with a spade on his head? Doug
  • What kind of cough medicine does Dracula take? Coffin Medicine

Don't forget to vote on the poll! I promise my blogging is improving, just working through some things.

Movie Review | Crazy, Stupid, Love

Released: 2011

Directors: Glenn Ficarra, John Requa

Stars: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Steve Carroll, Julianne Moore

Synopsis: Cal and Emily have been married for over 20 years. But when Cal learns that Emily had an affair he moves out. He would then go to a bar and whine about what happened. Jacob, a regular at the bar, upon hearing his woes offers to help him. By giving him a makeover and teaching him how to be a player. It isn't long before he's picking up someone frequently. But eventually he realizes he still loves Emily and wishes he could go back. At the same time his son is nursing a crush on his baby sitter who doesn't feel the same way. And even Jacob gets a new outlook when starts to feel something about a girl he tried to pick up earlier, but turned him down because she has a boyfriend. (From IMDB)

Review: This multi-generational romantic comedy is a great movie with twists and ties that join together in an unexpected turn of events in the last three quarters of the movie. After 25 years of marriage Steve Carrell and Julianne Moore split because she slept with Kevin Bacon. For the youngsters in the theatre Ryan Gosling and his six pack helps Carrell enter the art of picking up women in a bar, after Gosling finds his one true love Emma Stone. And of course there is a teenage romance in the story line with Carrell and Moore's son crushing on the babysitter, who ironically likes the Dad. As the story line moves along some blandness does occur but as everything starts to come back together and tension rises the end is as satisfying as chocolate.

My Favourite Ring

I just thought I would share one of my favourite jewellery pieces, I got this ring for my 17th birthday from my friends and it is a nice Pandora piece. Don't forget to vote on the right hand side about what you want out of my blog. The stone in the picture is very orange, on my ring it isn't as bright as this, it is more of a soft peach colour which personally I like more.

Today's Outfit

Today I am once again going out for a casual lunch. I am wearing the skirt I bought yesterday from Valleygirl. It was $15 and not usually something I would buy but looked surprisingly good on and very flattering. I am just wearing a white tank with it and pretty much ALL my bangles. I am also wearing a tan belt and tan gladiators. I put some green eyeshadow on to match the skirt and just some natural lipgloss. Hope you like it.

My dogs

I have one dog, he is a black labrador who is 2years old, his name is Charlie. I had another dog (golden retriever) called Ellie who passed away in August this year at the age of 12. Being an only child my dogs mean the world to me and just thought I would share a few photos of them.

Ellie and Charlie used to sleep like this all the time, he used to wait till she went to sleep to then go and lay on her, if she wasn't asleep then she wouldn't let him sleep on the same bed as she was.

This picture of Ellie was taken 2 weeks before she passed away, even the day she passed away she was eating a bone for breakfast and just being herself unfortunately her age got the better of her.

This is Charlie a few months old, I wish he stayed this size forever, so cute. They always fought over toys and played together even though Ellie was 10years older than him, he bought the youth out of her.

Hope you enjoyed this post. Planning on making a poll on types of blog posts people like so then I get an idea of what to blog about more than other stuff.

Outfit Post

So this is the outfit I wore today, it is still quiet humid and muggy in Sydney so I thought a dress was appropriate to wear while going out for breakfast and doing a bit of shopping. The dress is floral and I got it made when I went to Vietnam a few year ago. I teamed this with a black belt and black sandals from Steve Madden. I also wore some bangles with it and just a pair of studs. Below is my current nail colour, which doesn't actually match the outfit but it will match my outfit tomorrow :)

This is my earring collection that I thought I would just add in, I also have studs and hoops but they don't fit on the earring hanger.

Fringe or No Fringe?

This is me without and with a fringe, and I can't decide which hair style I like more, can you share your thoughts? When I have a fringe it is quiet a pain to style everytime I wash my hair! But without a fringe my forehead looks really big ... I can't decide if I should grow the fringe out or not? Need help!

Again sorry for the photography and the numerous selfies :)

Outfit Post

Today I went for a casual summer look for my last exam. I got the shorts from cotton on and the top from miss shop (as previously blogged about), I teamed it with my wayfarer raybans and a pair of havaianas.

These are the shorts, they are great with lots of leg room!!

This top I have blogged about previously, in this current hot Australian weather this top is very suitable, it is light and flowy and doesn't cling to your body.

I don't have a fantastic camera and I am not a great photographer which would explain the reason for the lack of quality in these photos. But I like to read blogs that have lots of pictures over words so now that the internet is so much faster I will try and blog more with pictures. Hope you liked the outfit, I didn't wear much jewellery with it which is very out of character!

Suggested TV Shows

So anyone who knows me is aware that I am a big TV series fanatic. I would choose watching a TV series over watching a movie anyday, but unfortunately of course this is quiet an expensive hobby with buying the DVDs that are $20 - $40 each. The following list are my favourite and most enjoyable TV series, pretty much I have watched each of the seasons at least 3 times and know a lot about them .... my christmas wishlist is full of DVDs and the occasional iPhone.

  1. Friends: my all time favourite comedy along with millions of other people. This is probably my favourite TV series and I own all 10 seasons. Everytime I watch the last season it makes me sad that I have actually finished it all. Lots of people say that friends should have finished around season 8, which I kind of agree with but at the same time that last season tugs at the heart strings, especially when there is a circular movement of Monica's empty apartment. I would highly recommend watching all the seasons if you haven't already!
  2. Weeds: first of all Mary Louise Parker makes this TV series. This series always has something new and fresh with lots of unexpected events around the corner. Personally behind Mary Louise Parker (Nancy Botwin) my favourite actor in the series is Hunter Parrish (Sylus Botwin). Its probably the great hotness that he develops throughout the series but he is a great actor and character. This series has 7 seasons and I have seen 6 of the seasons, so far its really enjoyable but some say it should have stopped. The first season is a bit slow but if you keep it out then it just gets better.
  3. Greys Anatomy and Desperate Housewives: both of these seasons are great with their release date being the same and both of them being at their 8th season. Desperate Housewives stars Felicity Huffman, Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross with many reoccuring secondary characters. It is a great TV series but is coming to its end with its current season being its last unfortunately. Greys anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo and is a great TV series with something that always keeps you on your toes. There are rumours that Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepard) is in his last season and does not want to renew his contract. Pompeo says (rumour) that she would be happy to stay on and I really hope she does as she makes the show what it is.
  4. Ghost Whisperer: I love Jennifer Love Hewitt, she is a great actor in this series, I watched it on and off when it was on TV and have the season 5 DVD, I can't actually seem to find the first season but haven't been trying that hard.
  5. Love my Way: a good old Australian TV series that only had 3 seasons but could have gone to four in my opinion. This TV series is great and revolves around the life of one family, the complications with marriage, the birth and death of children. It stars Claudia Karvan who is also is in the new series Spirited.
  6. Parenthood: I only started watching this series a few months ago but am already hooked. I have seen season 1, most of season 2 and season 3 is now currently on TV. Its a great show which once again tells the stories of a family and all the complications that come with having a big family but also the happiness.
Anyway, I would highly suggest all the TV series above, I also watch a bit of Sex and the City but not in consecutive seasons, just whenever its on TV.

Blogs I would suggest

http://www.katrinaleechambers.com/ - This is the blog of Katrina from 'The Block' 2011. I find that it is a really great blog with regular updates about fashion, motherhood etc.

http://www.llymlrs.com/ - This is one of my all time favourite blogs. It is about fashion, there is also another blog called Etc Llymlrs which is related to it and about broader things such as make up and the bloggers recent purchases. It is updated daily about outfits she wore that day.

http://danielleheartsbooks.blogspot.com/ - This blog is a relatively new. Danielle talks about current books she is reading and gives you the ease of buying the book she is reading by being linked to Amazon.

http://themakeupbubble.blogspot.com/ - I am also a fan of this blog talking everything make up.

http://wintagenetvoodle.blogspot.com/ - Personally I love vintage, antique style jewellery/clothes/furniture and this blog supports this obsession. I also LOVE the jewellery she talks about

Masterchef

About a year ago I subscribed to the Masterchef magazine which I thought would be really exciting as I would get to make a heap of different recipes I usually wouldn't. But having gotten it for a year and I have kept all the magazines I have found that I don't make many recipe's from the magazine's and I am not planning to renew my membership. This may just be my experience, I am not sure. Having said that one recipe I did make was a Chicken and Prawn Laksa. I love this dish and it is a great family meal.

Kuala Lumpur Chicken and Prawn Laksa
Serves: 4
Prep Time: 40mins
Cooking: 20mins
(+30mins to soak chillies)
  •        80mL (1/3 cup) vegetable oil, plus extra for frying
  •        250grams green prawns, peeled and cleaned heads and shells reserved
  •        400mL coconut milk
  •        2 tablespoons fish sauce
  •        1 tablespoon palm sugar
  •        160grams poached chicken breast, cut into 1cm slices
  •        400grams fresh egg noodles
  •        100grams bean sprouts
  •        100grams green beans, boiled
  •       3 spring onions, trimmed, thinly sliced

  Laksa Spice Paste
o   4 dried red chillies, soaked for 30mins and drained
o   20grams cashew nuts
o   2 stalks lemongrass, chopped
o   3 gloves garlic, roughly chopped
o   20grams ginger, roughly chopped
o   2 teaspoons curry powder
o   3 red eschalots, roughly chopped
o   2 teaspoon shrimp paste
o   ½ teaspoon salt
o   1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Method
  •        To make Laksa spice paste, process all ingredients in a food processor to a smooth paste
  •        To make stock, heat 1-tablespoon oil in a wok or large frying pan. Add reserved prawn heads and shells and cook for 2mins or until golden brown. Add 1L water, bring to the boil and simmer for 4minutes. Strain, reserving liquid and pan
  •       Use 60mL of oil to reserved pan and heat over medium heat. Add Laksa spice paste and cook for 2mins or until fragrant. Add stock, coconut milk, fish sauce, sugar and 1-teaspoon salt. Simmer for 3minutes. Add prawns and chicken to the soup and simmer for 5minutes until prawns are just cooked through
  •        Meanwhile, cook noodles in a pan of boiling water until tender, then drain
  •        Divide noodles among bowls. Top with sprouts and beans. Spoon over soup. Top with spring onions and hers.
Happy Cooking!!

Cutest Story!!

I love this story, and when I am of age (as in like 10 - 15years) aspire to be like this!!

Story from news.com.au:

An elderly couple, married for 72 years, died holding hands in hospital within 70 minutes of each other.

Gordon and Norma Yeager died in an Iowa hospital after a car accident last week that also injured another couple.

"They're very old-fashioned. They believed in marriage 'til death do you part," their son Dennis Yeager.

The Yeagers' children said that their parents never liked being apart ever since marrying in 1939.

The family said they were relieved their parents were able to spend their last moments together in the intensive care unit of the hospital.

"They brought them in the same room in intensive care and put them together - and they were holding hands in ICU. They were not really responsive," Dennis Yeager said.

Gordon died at 3.38pm surrounded by their family and holding hands with Norma. His wife died at 4.48pm.

"It was really strange, they were holding hands, and dad stopped breathing but I couldn't figure out what was going on because the heart monitor was still going," said Dennis Yeager.

"But we were like, he isn't breathing. How does he still have a heart beat? The nurse checked and said that's because they were holding hands and it's going through them. Her heart was beating through him and picking it up."

"Neither one of them would've wanted to be without each other. I couldn't figure out how it was going to work," the Yeagers' daughter Donna Sheets has said "We were very blessed, honestly, that they went this way."

The couple were holding hands at their funeral in their casket. Their family said the plan was to cremate them together and mix their ashes.

This story brought a tear to my eye

Nicholas Sparks

Sorry about the lack of blogging this week, I finish my HSC next Wednesday so hopefully I will start blogging more and have more to talk about as I am going to see movies etc.
As all my friends know I am not a big reader, if a reader at all, but I am trying to turn that around. I recently bought two books off the Book Depository by Nicholas Sparks, Remember Me and Dear John. I also bought The Help, not sure who its by. I have seen all the movies and loved them and hopefully the books will be the same ... I am very excited by this delivery as I love to get things in the post!! I recently bought another Nicholas Sparks book on my mums Kindle, trying it out to see if I like it and if I want for Christmas. I have decided that its a great way to read books but I prefer to read from a book. The book was called "The Best of Me". I am only up to chapter five but so far it is really good, I would highly suggest it!

Blue Nail Polish

So, I have been doing quiet a lot of shopping recently, I think more over the last week than the past month, which makes me very happy. I would love to upload photos of what I bought but of course the internet is so slow and last time it took hours, so I will just talk about it.

First of all, I bought some blue nail polish from target, it is just a random brand and was $3 because I don't believe in paying over $10 for nail polish. I just put it on and am not sure that I like it, but at the same time the colour is very nice. I got two big rings from Lovisa, which is a relatively new budget jewellery store with really nice stuff. I really like it there and if I had an in-finant amount of money I could go crazy!! I also bought a top for summer and some other 'bohemian' jewellery from equip. Pretty much it was a good shopping day and I am not broke at the end of it which makes it even better.

I also received my ASOS items today which I am over the moon with, not only do the swimmers fit perfectly but the bag is really nice and  surprisingly big. The swimmers are very flattering and have a one strap which acts as a halter neck. There is also a bit of a 'boob' supporter which for anyone who is bigger than a B cup is a god send! The bag is fantastic, the strap is surprisingly log and it will take me a while to get used to it but it is still a great and roomy bag!!

Cranberry Almond Loaf

I made this recipe the other day and found it was a really nice cake/loaf thing.  I found it on the back of a cranberry packet from Woolworth's.

Ingredients:
  • one and a half cups of self raising flour
  • three quarters of a cup of brown sugar
  • one cup of cranberries
  • two thirds of a cup of chopped almonds
  • one third of olive oil
  •  two eggs
  • one third of a cup of milk
Method:
  1. Preheat oven to one hundred and eighty degrees Celsius
  2. grease and line a twenty cm loaf pan
  3. in a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cranberries and almonds
  4. in a separate bowl, whisk together oil, eggs and milk
  5. gently add to flour mixture and stir until just combined
  6. spoon into loaf pan and bake for fifty minutes
  7. stand cake for five minutes in pan, then remove and place on wire rack to cool
This cake was good but I did find it a little dry so maybe try adding more oil or milk. I also (because I like icing) added the icing I use for my Red Velvet cupcakes (see below)

Happy baking!

Shopping Expeditions

Today I went shopping which was very exciting to get out of the study books and spend some money. I found a really nice kaftan for my beach holidays and it matches both my swimmers and my hat which makes me extra happy. It was from Myer and the brand is Zazou which I think is exclusive to Myer. It was quite cheap at $50 and really light material which means it will dry quickly. I couldn't find a picture on the internet so had to take one of my own, which I am sorry for because I am not very good at photography.

I bought two other tops bother from Miss Shop. I find Miss Shop is relatively good priced and reasonable and the things I buy there last long. I was just looking for some summer casual tops to go with some shorts. One was $30 which was just a simple floral top and the other was $50 and had quite a lot of lace at the back. Once again unfortunately I had to take the photos myself so they aren't very good.

This is the $30 top, it is really nice material and this picture probably doesn't flatter it.

This is the back of the $50 top. I did take one of the front but didn't turn out very well, but the front is pretty much the same but without the lace.

Sorry about the lack of blogging recently internet has been extremely slow and I have been really lazy and tired.

Clean Start Review

I have been recently using a product suggested by my beautician called Clean Start. The brand of the product is dermalogica and then the clean start range targeting at teenagers.

I have used the clean start skin kit, which comes with a spray called all over clear, a cleanser called wash off, a face mask called ready set scrub!, a cream called bedtime breakouts and a moisturiser called welcome matte spf 15.

I know it sounds like a lot of products and I was a little unsure about using them all twice a day but I got used to it and my skin is a lot more hydrated. This start up kit is a bit small I found and only lasted a few weeks. But dermalogica does provide larger bottles for purchase if you are happy with the start up kit. I would suggest this product but did have a few little issues with it that I think people should be aware of. It takes up to four weeks to work and with the size of the product didn't give it enough time to have its full effect. But the creams did reduce redness, irritation and dry skin which was a positive for me. I wasn't a massive fan of the cleansers it came with, I found they were a bit superficial with their cleaning, I think my favourite products out of this set was the face mask and the bedtime breakouts cream. The face mask really moisturised my face and left me feeling refreshed and ready for the day. The bedtime breakouts cream is more of a gel type substance and left me waking up with a moisturised face. Out of five I would probably give this product a 3.5. It has many positive elements but as with anything has its negatives. I feel thats what it was like with my skin but of course it would change depending on the type of skin you have.

Hope this is helpful!

Online Shopping

Of course, because I am house bound, I needed to a bit of online shopping. This lead me to the highly advertised new Australian ASOS website! And may I say the current sales they have are fantastic with massive savings. Here is the website: http://www.asos.com/au/Women/

Because I am going away on numerous beach holidays within the next few months I decided I should stock up on new swimmers, hats, bags etc. On the weekend while out for brunch I actually bought a really nice, simple broad brimmed hat which I have wanted for 12 months but never really found the right one. I got it from the ripcurl shop in Manly and even though I hate those brands like Billabong, Roxy etc. this hat is actually quite nice and doesn't have a massive logo on it, which is mainly what I hated about the brand. I had to match the hat to my pair of swimmers that I got last season, unaware that I would buy new ones today. They aren't extravagant swimmers or anything, just black and white polka dots but had to find something that worked with the kinda of 50s theme of styling. The hat below is similar to what I bought (I couldn't find an exact image). Mine is black and the scarf around it black and white matching my swimmers. I was really happy with this find and can't wait to get out in the sun and use it.

Back to ASOS, today I bought a pair of black swimmers and a bag. I felt I needed another pair of swimmers and wanted to buy a kaftan to match but unfortunately didn't really like any of them, so will have to keep looking. The swimmers were quiet cheap at $23 and hopefully they are good material etc (keep you updated).

The bag I bought because I am going overseas and needed something that was more secure than what I have, this bag looked perfect being not to big but big enough to fit everything I need and having lots of zippers so it would be harder for people to access.
So I got the bag in brown (this colour is red in the picture) and hopefully the leather will be ok and everything, so have high expectations with the $30 price tag though.

That is pretty much all I have bought in 6months, which is pretty much driving me insane due to the lack of clothes that I have to wear so I will more than likely be going crazy with all the cheap clothes in hawaii.
